"We're For Water" Conservation Tour Wrapping up in New Jersey
The EPA's "We're For Water" cross-country tour will wrap up on August 2nd in Chatham Township, NJ, where two local families will compete to see which household can conserve the most water in a week's time. Water services provider American Water will monitor the amount of water used by each family over the period of one week and compare the results to their usage during a week earlier this summer. The EPA provided water-conserving tips to both families, encouraging them to "Check, Twist, and Replace":
- Check toilets for leaks
- Twist on an aerator to reduce bathroom faucet water use by 30%
- Replace conventional showerheads with WaterSense-certified models
The "We're For Water" campaign kicked off in Los Angeles on July 14 and has traveled across the country to promote WaterSense-certified products and water-saving behaviors. Tour stops included the Grand Canyon, Mount Rushmore, and the world's largest toilet in Columbus, Indiana.
